Before You Begin
- Check that the host device has a USB-C port.
- For HDMI, confirm the host port supports video output. The product listing specifies Thunderbolt 3.0 or higher for display output.
- For PD charging, use a compatible USB-C PD charger and cable.
- Have the HDMI, Ethernet or USB accessories you need ready.
- Never force connectors into ports.
Connecting the Hub
- Insert the hub's USB-C connector into a compatible port on your laptop or device.
- Connect accessories to the matching ports.
- For an external display, use HDMI.
- For wired internet, connect Ethernet to RJ45.
- To charge the host device, connect a compatible USB-C PD charger to the PD port.
- The hub is designed for plug-and-play use on compatible devices.
HDMI Display Output
- Connect an HDMI cable from Mport 51 to the display.
- Select the correct HDMI input on the monitor, TV or projector.
- Open the host's display settings and select Duplicate/Mirror or Extend, if required.
- If there is no picture, confirm the host USB-C port supports video output.
- For 4K, the host, display and HDMI cable must support the required resolution and refresh rate.
Mport 51 supports up to 4K × 2K at 30Hz. A USB-C port that supports charging or data does not necessarily support HDMI video.
USB Data Ports
USB 3.0: Connect a flash drive, keyboard, mouse, camera or external storage. The port supports up to 5Gbps, depending on the device and workload.
USB 2.0: Connect compatible peripherals such as a keyboard or mouse.
For external storage, safely eject the drive before disconnecting it where your operating system supports this option. The USB-C PD port is for charging only; do not use it for USB data devices.
Wired Ethernet
- Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or network outlet to the RJ45 port.
- Connect Mport 51 to your host device.
- Wait for the operating system to detect the wired connection.
- Open network settings and select Ethernet if prompted.
The RJ45 port supports up to 100Mbps. Actual internet speed also depends on the router, cable, network service and host device.
USB-C PD Pass-Through Charging
- Connect Mport 51 to the host device.
- Connect a compatible USB-C PD charger to the hub's PD port.
- Check the host device's charging indicator.
- Use a charger and cable that support the required PD rating.
The output is up to 87W under compatible conditions. Actual power depends on the charger, cable and host. The PD port is for charging only, not data transfer or video output.
