Wireless HDMI Transmitter & Receiver
Having an issue with your SkyCast? Find your problem below and follow the steps in order — most issues are solved within the first two or three steps.
Before You Start
Please confirm your device supports USB-C video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt). This is the single most common cause of connection issues. Many USB-C ports on phones and some laptops are designed only for charging or data transfer and cannot output video—no cable, adapter, or setting can change this.
No Display at All
Try the following in order:
- Check that the receiver is powered—its LED should be lit.
- Make sure the correct HDMI input is selected on your TV or monitor.
- Unplug and firmly reconnect the transmitter.
- Restart both your source device and your display.
"No Signal" Message on Your Display
- Unplug and reconnect the HDMI receiver.
- Check that the receiver's power LED is on.
- Try a different HDMI port on your display.
- Confirm your device supports DisplayPort Alt Mode (see "Before You Start" above). If it doesn't, unfortunately your device isn't compatible with SkyCast.
Black Screen (Devices Are Connected, But Nothing Shows)
- Disconnect and reconnect the transmitter.
- Restart your laptop.
- Try lowering your display resolution.
- Reconnect SkyCast after your device restarts.
Phone Won't Cast
This is the most common issue, and it almost always comes down to one thing: your phone's USB-C port may not support video output.
- Check your phone's spec sheet (or search online) for "USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode."
- If your phone's USB-C port is charging/data only, SkyCast unfortunately won't work with your phone — this is a limitation of the phone's hardware, not a fault with SkyCast.
Note on iPhones: SkyCast only works with USB-C iPhones that support DisplayPort Alt Mode. Lightning-port iPhones are not compatible.
No Audio
Windows: Go to Settings → Sound → select HDMI Audio as your output device.
macOS: Go to System Settings → Sound → Output → select HDMI.
TV: Double-check your TV's own volume isn't muted or turned down — this is often the simple fix.
Lag or Stutter During Playback
- Keep the distance between transmitter and receiver under 30 meters.
- Maintain a clear line of sight between the two units.
- Avoid walls or large objects between them — these weaken the wireless signal.
Receiver Keeps Disconnecting
- Try powering the receiver from your TV's USB port or a certified 5V USB charger instead.
- Test with a different USB cable, in case the current one is damaged.
Laptop Doesn't Detect the Display (Windows)
- Press Windows + P on your keyboard.
- Select Duplicate or Extend.
- If the display still isn't detected, restart your laptop and reconnect SkyCast.
Projector Shows "No HDMI"
- Make sure the HDMI receiver is fully plugged into the projector.
- Confirm the receiver is receiving USB power.
- Confirm the correct HDMI source is selected on your projector.
Poor Wireless Performance
- Keep a direct line of sight between the transmitter and receiver.
- Minimize obstructions like walls or furniture between them.
- Reduce the distance between the two units if possible.
PD Charging Not Working
- Make sure you're using your original or a certified USB-C charger.
- Check that your charger's wattage is sufficient.
- Confirm the cable is securely connected.
- Note: SkyCast supports pass-through charging up to 100W. A lower-wattage charger will still work but may charge more slowly while casting.
Safety Tips
- Power the HDMI receiver using only a 5V USB source.
- Keep the units away from liquids, dust, and extreme heat.
- Clean with a soft, dry cloth only — avoid liquid cleaners.
- For best wireless performance, keep a clear line of sight between transmitter and receiver.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does SkyCast require Wi-Fi or an app? No — SkyCast creates a direct wireless connection between the transmitter and receiver. No app or network needed.
Can I charge my device while casting? Yes! SkyCast supports USB-C PD pass-through charging up to 100W, so you can charge and cast at the same time.
Does SkyCast work with projectors? Yes, as long as your projector has an HDMI input.
Does it support iPhones? SkyCast works with USB-C iPhones that support DisplayPort Alt Mode. Lightning-port iPhones aren't compatible.
What's the maximum wireless distance? SkyCast is rated for 30–50 meters, but that's under ideal, clear line-of-sight conditions. Walls or obstructions will reduce this range.
