Modified on Sat, 25 Jul at 1:00 PM

Running into an issue with your Beem 500? Don't worry — most of the common ones below can be sorted out in just a couple of steps. If you're still stuck after trying these, our support team is always happy to help.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

No Screen Display / System Crash

If your screen goes blank or the system freezes up:

  • Unplug the power cable completely.
  • Wait a few seconds, then plug it back in and restart the projector.

Projector Can't Be Controlled by the Remote

  • Check that the remote's battery is installed correctly, or try replacing it with a fresh battery and test again.
  • Point the remote directly at the projector's receiving window (front of the unit) and try again — obstructions or an indirect angle can prevent the signal from reaching the projector.

Projector Won't Power On

  • Check that the power cable is securely and properly connected to the projector at both ends.
  • Confirm the wall outlet you're using is working (try plugging in another device to test it).

Projector Shuts Down Automatically When It Gets Hot

This usually means the projector isn't getting enough airflow.

  • Check that the air outlet and air inlet on the projector aren't blocked or covered.
  • Place the projector in a well-ventilated, open area — avoid enclosed spaces like cabinets or shelves with walls close by.
  • Keep at least 2 feet of clearance between the projector and the wall behind it.
  • Let the unit cool down fully before turning it back on.

Red Indicator Light Blinking (Temperature Warning)

A red light blinking on the indicator means the projector's temperature is running high.

  • Follow the same steps as above — check ventilation, clear the vents, and give the projector room to breathe.
  • Avoid using it in direct sunlight or near other heat sources.

Red Indicator Light Fast Blinking (Fan Issue)

A fast-blinking red light indicates the cooling fan may not be working correctly.

  • Power off the projector, unplug it, and let it rest for a few minutes.
  • Check the vents aren't blocked and try powering it back on.
  • If the fast-blinking red light continues, please raise a support ticket — this may need a closer look from our team.

Blurry Image

  • Use the Focus +/- buttons on your remote to manually sharpen the image.
  • You can also press the Auto Focus key on the remote to let the projector adjust automatically.
  • If it's still not sharp, try repositioning the projector slightly closer to or farther from your screen.

Distorted / Trapezoidal Image

  • The Beem 500 has auto keystone correction, which should adjust this automatically.
  • If the image still looks skewed, use the Picture Correction button on your remote to manually adjust it.
  • Make sure the projector is placed level and centered with your screen — even a slight tilt can distort the image.

Wi-Fi Won't Connect

  • Double-check you're entering the correct password.
  • Try moving the projector a bit closer to your router.
  • Restart your router and attempt to connect again.

No Sound

  • Make sure the volume isn't muted — press the Mute button again to unmute.
  • Increase the volume using the Volume + button or multi-function knob.
  • Using external speakers or headphones via the AUX output? Double-check they're properly connected.

Bluetooth Speaker Mode Not Pairing

  • Check the indicator light — a fast-blinking blue light means the projector is in pairing mode.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the device you're trying to pair.
  • If pairing completes, the indicator will turn to a steady colourful light. If it doesn't, restart Bluetooth on both devices and try again.

Important Note:

  • Some Bluetooth devices may not connect due to compatibility limitations between devices
  • Certain devices may not work together even though they function properly with other devices

HDMI / USB / Ethernet Device Not Detected

  • Make sure the cable is firmly connected at both ends.
  • Try a different HDMI, USB, or Ethernet cable if you have one available.
  • Confirm you've selected the correct input source in the projector's settings menu.

Voice Remote Not Responding

  • Check the remote's indicator — if it's flashing quickly, the battery is low and needs replacing.
  • Make sure the remote is paired (see the "Projector Can't Be Controlled" section above for pairing steps).
  • Hold the remote closer to the projector and try the Voice button again.

Mark or Spot Appearing on the Screen

This can happen due to heat buildup from extended or continuous use.

  • Give the projector regular breaks during long usage sessions rather than running it continuously for hours.
  • Make sure it's placed in a well-ventilated area with the vents unblocked (see the overheating section above).
  • If the mark persists even after this, please raise a support ticket so our team can take a closer look and assist you further.
