Running into an issue with your Vlogmate Neo? Don't worry — most of the common ones below can be sorted out in just a couple of steps. If you're still stuck after trying these, our support team is always happy to help.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

TX and RX Won't Pair

  • Take the TX out of the charging case — it should power on automatically and flash red and blue alternately, indicating pairing mode.
  • Connect the RX to your phone; pairing should happen automatically. Once connected, the TX's light will turn solid green.
  • If they still don't pair, do a manual pairing reset: press and hold the touch area on the TX for 3 seconds until the red and blue lights flash alternately, then try again.

No Sound / Mic Not Picking Up Audio

  • Check the RX indicator light isn't red — a solid red light means the mic is muted. Double-click the RX button to unmute.
  • Make sure the TX is clipped within about 20cm of the sound source (e.g., your collar) for the best pickup.
  • Confirm the TX and RX are paired (solid green light on the TX).
  • Try switching noise reduction modes with a single click on the RX button (Green → High-Fidelity, Blue → AI Noise Reduction, Purple → Deep AI Noise Reduction) — an aggressive noise reduction mode can sometimes make quiet audio sound too thin.

Audio Sounds Distorted, Delayed, or Cuts Out

  • Keep the TX and RX facing each other as much as possible — facing away from your phone can weaken the signal.
  • Stay within the rated transmission range of 30 meters, with a clear line of sight — walls and obstructions will reduce range.
  • Move away from other wireless devices that may be causing interference.

RX Not Detected When Connected to Phone

  • Some Android phones require you to manually turn on the OTG (On-The-Go) function for external plug-in accessories to work. Check your phone's settings for this option.
  • Try unplugging and reconnecting the RX to your phone's Type-C port.
  • Test the RX on a different Type-C phone, if available, to rule out a port issue.

Microphone (TX) Won't Turn On

  • Take it out of the charging case — it should power on automatically. If not, press and hold the touch area for 3 seconds to turn it on manually.
  • Check the battery isn't fully drained — place it back in the charging case and let it charge for a bit before trying again.
  • If the red light flashes slowly, that's a low battery indicator — charge the TX as soon as possible.

Charging Case Not Charging the Microphone

  • Confirm the TX is seated correctly and fully in its designated slot in the case.
  • Check the case's own indicator light: a steady blue light means the case itself is fully charged and able to charge the mic; a flashing red light means the case is still charging.
  • If the case's blue light doesn't flash while the TX is inserted, try removing and reseating the TX in its slot.
  • Use only the original cable provided, or one recommended by Portronics — third-party cables can sometimes cause inconsistent charging.

Battery Draining Faster Than Expected

  • Remember the TX automatically shuts down after 5 minutes of being disconnected from a paired device — if it seems to run out of charge quickly, check it isn't sitting powered-on and unpaired for long stretches.
  • Avoid exposing the mic or charging case to direct sunlight or extreme heat, as this can affect battery performance.
  • If you're storing the microphone for a while without using it, recharge it every two months to help maintain battery health.

Device Was Exposed to Water or Liquid

  • Power off the device immediately.
  • Gently drain any residual moisture.
  • Do not attempt to charge or use it until it's fully dry.
