1. Quick Reference Table
| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Won't turn on | Battery discharged | Charge via a 5V/1A charger, then long-press Power |
| Won't turn off / unresponsive | Software hang | Short-press the Reset jack with a small round pin |
| Won't pair over Bluetooth | Not in pairing mode | Power on fresh — it auto-enters Bluetooth mode and prompts for pairing |
| Bluetooth disconnects when I insert a USB/AUX | Expected automatic mode switch | Normal behavior — remove the USB disk/AUX cable to return to Bluetooth mode |
| TWS won't link two speakers | Different batches, or Bluetooth still connected | Confirm both units are the same batch; short-pressing TWS disconnects Bluetooth first, which is expected |
| No sound from wired mic | Plugged into wrong port | Confirm the mic is in the MIC port, not AUX |
| Power bank output seems weak while playing music | High current demand at max volume | Expected — lower the volume while charging another device for full output |
| Volume/track buttons doing the wrong thing | Press length confused | Short press adjusts volume; long press changes track |
2. Speaker Won't Turn On
- Long-press the Power button and check for a response.
- Connect a 5V/1A charger (not included) to the charging jack and charge for at least 30–60 minutes.
- Check the battery indicator for signs of charging activity.
- If there's still no response after charging, this may point to a hardware fault — contact support.
3. Speaker Won't Turn Off or Respond to Buttons
Fix: use a small round pin to short-press the Reset jack. This resets the speaker without waiting for the battery to fully drain.
4. Won't Pair Over Bluetooth
- Turn the power button to "ON" — the speaker automatically enters Bluetooth mode and prompts for pairing.
- On your phone, search for Bluetooth devices and select "Portronics DASH 12."
- If it won't connect, confirm the speaker isn't currently in USB or AUX mode (inserting a USB drive or AUX cable automatically switches away from Bluetooth).
- If it was previously paired elsewhere, forget the device on your phone and search again.
5. Bluetooth Disconnects Unexpectedly
This is expected in two situations, not a fault:
- Inserting a USB disk or AUX cable automatically disconnects Bluetooth and switches to that source. Remove the USB disk/AUX cable to return to Bluetooth mode.
- Short-pressing the TWS button while connected via Bluetooth disconnects Bluetooth first, in order to establish the TWS connection. You'll need to search for and reconnect the Bluetooth device again afterward.
6. TWS Mode Won't Link Two Speakers
- Turn on both Dash 12 speakers and set both to TWS mode — only one needs to be manually configured.
- Short-press the TWS button on one unit — both TWS buttons should stay lit once paired successfully.
- Check the batch/date code on both units — TWS pairing is only guaranteed between two Dash 12 speakers from the same production batch. If pairing consistently fails between two otherwise-identical units, mismatched batches are a likely cause; contact support to confirm compatibility.
- To exit TWS mode, short-press the TWS button again on either speaker.
7. USB Playback Issues
- Insert the USB flash disk fully into the port — music should start playing automatically.
- Long-press Forward/Backward to browse songs; short-press to adjust volume.
- Remember: inserting a USB disk overrides whatever mode the speaker was previously in, including Bluetooth.
- If nothing plays, test the drive in another device to rule out a file or drive issue.
8. No Sound from the Wired Microphone
- Confirm the microphone is plugged into the MIC port, not the AUX In port — these are separate inputs.
- Check the mic's own volume or mute controls if it has any.
- If there's still no sound, test with a different wired mic if available to rule out a cable fault.
9. Power Bank Output Feels Weak
Cause: when playing music during charging at maximum volume, the speaker may not be able to supply full charging current at the same time.
Fix: lower the speaker's volume while charging another device via the power bank output, for more consistent charging performance.
10. Voice Assistant or Hands-Free Calling Not Working
- Confirm the speaker is connected via Bluetooth — both features require an active Bluetooth connection.
- Voice assistant: long-press Play/Pause to activate it.
- Incoming call: short-press Play/Pause to accept, long-press to reject.
- During a call: long-press Play/Pause to switch audio to your phone; short-press to end the call.
11. EQ or RGB Light Not Changing
- EQ: short-press the EQ button to switch between the 2 available sound effect modes.
- RGB Light: short-press the RGB light button to turn the light on or off.
12. Charging Issues
- Use a standard 5V/1A charger (not included in the box).
- Charge the speaker fully before first use.
- If the speaker won't charge at all, try a different cable or charger before assuming a hardware fault.
13. General Safety & Care Reminders
- Don't use or store the speaker in extreme temperatures, or near heat sources like radiators or stoves.
- Avoid listening at maximum volume for long periods, to protect your hearing and the speaker.
- Clean with a soft, dry cloth.
