1. Quick Reference Table
| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Won't turn on | Battery discharged | Charge via Type-C for ~3 hours, then retry |
| Won't pair over Bluetooth | Not in Bluetooth mode | Short-press the Power button to enter Bluetooth mode; search "Portronics NOVA" again |
| TWS won't link two speakers | Speakers from different batches, or wrong button sequence | Confirm both units are the same batch; double-click Power on both simultaneously |
| AUX connected but no sound | Cable not seated, or source muted | Reseat the 3.5mm cable; check the source device's volume |
| Can't answer/end calls | Not in Bluetooth mode, or wrong press used | Confirm Bluetooth connection; single press to answer/end, double press to call back |
| Speaker powers off by itself | Auto power-off after 15 minutes idle | Normal behavior — press Power to turn it back on |
| Volume auto-reduces and voice prompt plays | Low battery warning | Recharge promptly via Type-C |
2. Speaker Won't Turn On
- Press and hold the Power button and check for any response.
- Connect the Type-C cable to charge — full charge takes approximately 3 hours.
- Look for the flashing white indicator light, which confirms charging is active.
- If there's no response after charging, this may point to a hardware fault — contact support.
3. Won't Pair Over Bluetooth
- Short-press the Power button to enter Bluetooth mode.
- On your phone, open Bluetooth settings, search for devices, and select "Portronics NOVA."
- Stay within the ≥10m open-area range during pairing.
- If it won't reconnect to a previously paired phone, forget the NOVA entry on your phone and pair fresh.
4. TWS Mode Won't Link Two Speakers
- Power on both NOVA speakers.
- Double-click the Power button on both speakers at the same time to enter TWS pairing mode.
- Wait for the voice prompt on the master speaker confirming a successful pairing.
- Check the batch/date code on both units — TWS pairing is only guaranteed between two NOVA speakers from the same production batch. If pairing consistently fails between two otherwise-identical units, mismatched batches are a likely cause; contact support to confirm compatibility.
- To reset and try again, double-click Power on either speaker to disconnect TWS (confirmed by a voice prompt), then repeat the pairing steps.
5. AUX Mode Not Working
- Connect a 3.5mm audio cable to the speaker — it should switch to Line-In mode automatically.
- If there's no sound, check the volume on the source device itself, since AUX is a passive connection not controlled by the speaker's own volume buttons.
- Reseat the cable firmly at both ends if the connection seems intermittent.
6. Call Functionality Not Working
Confirm the speaker is connected via Bluetooth — call functions only work in Bluetooth mode, not AUX or USB.
| Action | Press |
|---|---|
| Answer a call | Single press Play/Pause |
| End a call | Single press Play/Pause (during the call) |
| Call back | Double-press Play/Pause |
If callers can't hear you clearly, move closer to your phone and check nothing is blocking the built-in mic.
7. Speaker Powers Off Unexpectedly
This is the auto power-off feature, not a fault — NOVA automatically shuts down after 15 minutes of inactivity to save battery. Press the Power button to turn it back on.
8. Battery & Charging Issues
- Use only the provided Type-C cable, with a DC 5V/2A (max) power source.
- A flashing white light indicates active charging; charging takes approximately 3 hours.
- If the battery is low, the speaker issues a voice prompt and automatically lowers the volume — recharge promptly when this happens.
- Avoid excessive or prolonged charging, which can shorten battery lifetime over time.
- If unused for a long period, charge at least once a month to prevent battery degradation.
9. General Safety Reminders
- Keep the speaker away from heat sources.
- Charge fully before first use.
- Keep volume at a reasonable level to avoid disturbing others.
